EVERYDAY PEOPLE - Fight for Longer Life - Complications of Diabetes
Fight for Longer Life

Everyday People is a band here on the Oregon Coast directed by Marty Adams.  Adams is currently the Worship Pastor at Florence Christian Church here in Florence Oregon.  This band has played for many different organizations here in this area and currently does work for private parties and corporate events.
This dynamic band is comprised of several talented musicians: Marty Adams, (http://www.soundclick.com/kwi) the director, has over 35 years in the music industry and is joined by Emmanuel Bealieu, Will McGregor, John Stone, Kevin Rhodes and Dan Dehn.  Their music spans many different era's and genres of music including Rock, Country, Gospel, Jazz to name a few.

The "Fight for Longer Life" campaign is being driven to help pay for excess medical expenses brought on by complications of Diabetes.  While Marty Adams is insured, many of his medical cost are not covered including a surgery that could eliminate the need for future diabetes treatment.  Some diabetics find themselves on a difficult road due to "insulin resistance".  When a type two diabetic becomes insulin resistant it becomes very difficult to treat.  Large amounts of insulin cause weight gain which in turn causes high blood sugar.  People like Marty find themselves on massive quantities of insulin and diabetes medication with little or no positive results.  Weight loss becomes very difficult for a number of reasons including the fact that other diabetes medications other than insulin can cause weight gain.  It's like fighting a loosing battle.

Bariatric surgery has become a very powerful tool in the fight against out of control diabetes.  Over 85% of patients who go through the surgery Marty is needing find themselves not needing any insulin or diabetes medication right after surgery.  This is not a cosmetic surgery.  The surgeons who work through the Oregon Bariatric Center only perform surgery on people who have severe medical conditions.
